I learnt of
Og Mandino’s book from Eric Worre. I can’t remember what the video was actually
about, but Eric Worre did recommend that if I was looking for more out of life,
I should read The Greatest Salesman in the World. I am glad I read this book.
Last week I came to the realization of something remarkable. It’s what I am
writing about now. To my surprise, it seems the one of the most important
things anyone in business should do. Even Og Mandino wrote about it in his
book. It’s in the scroll marked X – pray to God for guidance.
one thing that most of us will always find lacking near the end of any
accomplishment. For the graduate, after university, he/she will need favor to
get a good paying job. For the real estate agent, after making the best sales
pitches, he/she will need favor for that client to say yes and accept the home.
The doctors, after performing the best of their practice and prescribing the
best of drugs, will inform the relatives of the sick, that the rest is in God’s
SPIRITUALITY IN LATER YEARS
This is a
recurring fact in life. At the end of it all, we tend to realize what was most
important. We then see what we should have focused on more from the very
start. For example, it’s well known that
spirituality and religion play a very important role in the lives of those in
the later years of life. In fact, a Gallup poll (Gallup Organization, 2002)
showed that 73 percent of seniors i.e. 65+ years, identify religion as being
very important to them. About half of adults ages 18 to 29 say that religion is
very important to them, compared to almost three quarters of seniors. In other
words, as humans grow older, they realize their need for God.
“Who is of so
little faith that in a moment of great disaster or heartbreak has not called to
his God? Who has not cried out when confronted with danger, death, or mystery beyond
his normal experience or comprehension? From where has this deep instinct come which
escapes from the mouth of all living creatures in moments of peril? My life need
not be filled with religion in order for me to recognize this greatest mystery of
nature. All creatures that walk the earth, including man, possess the instinct to
cry for help.” – Og Mandino
CONNECTING WITH YOUR CREATOR
spending years in business, I came to realize that I had ignored asking for
guidance from my creator. This post is not to impose any beliefs on any of you.
But rather to show you the need of a spiritual connection; even for your network
marketing business. After learning how to close as fast as I could decide. And answering
any objections with excellent professionalism. I came to learn that I need the
guidance of my creator too. And not that of my mentors only.
Og Mandino’s book ends in a way that some find controversial. This is so because it seems to portray Apostle Paul as the greatest salesman in the world. Some consider Hafid as even a possible stand-in for Jesus Christ. See more information here .
My take is
that if anyone is truly a salesman, there are actually days when things are the
opposite of their expectations. There are even times when everything falls yet
it was almost complete. Thereby leaving one with no option but to rebuild from
scratch. And if a salesman does rebuild all alone, they will fail again.
all, no man is an island. No one ever achieved success all alone. Others have
to be included. Plus God too. If you don’t agree, that’s absolutely fine with
me. You don’t have to agree with something for it to be valid. I have also
discovered that after all we can do as salesmen (or even as humans), we shall
always find we can’t complete it without the hand from the spiritual realm. When
we evaluate our plans in the end, we’ll always find out perhaps we left out
God. Instead of waiting till your business is lame, pray to God for guidance
now. Thank me later. You need help from God in your business. If you haven’t
yet read Og Mandino’s book, I recommend it to you. The Greatest Salesman in the
World is one of the best investments you could ever make into yourself!
